Now they’re here, impossibly tiny, perfectly new, and already changing by the day. In just nine short months, your baby will be nearly sitting up, reaching for toys, and flashing that first gummy smile. These newborn days? They’re sacred and fleeting. I can still remember the first cry, the warmth of their skin against yours, the way their tiny fingers instinctively wrap around yours. Time stands still—but only for a moment. In the blink of an eye, the sleepy newborn snuggles become babbling smiles and wobbly attempts to sit. Nine months from now, your baby will already be growing into the next chapter, and you’ll find yourself longing to remember just how small they once were. I provide everything for your session—soft wraps, timeless props, and cozy little outfits—so all you need to bring is your baby and their milk. THE NEWBORN BABY PROCESS

1. SAY HELLO!

Every beautiful newborn journey begins with a simple hello! Reaching out is the very first step toward creating something truly special together. Whether you send an email, phone call, or fill out the contact form on my website, this is where our connection begins. I genuinely love getting to know each and every one of my maternity clients — hearing about your growing family, your dreams for your session, and what this season of life means to you. From the moment you reach out, I want you to feel supported, excited, and confident that you’re in good hands. No pressure, no stress — just an open conversation to start designing a maternity experience as beautiful and unique as you are.

2. BOOK YOUR BABY SESSION

A paid session fee and signed booking form are required to secure your session. The session fee covers the time and talent of the photographer, as well as full use of the studio, props, and client closet.

Newborn sessions are generally taken before baby is 2 weeks old. All newborn session take place in the morning during the week. We will work together to find a day and time that works best for you.

Don’t forget to ask about combined booking of maternity and newborn session to receive $100 off.

3. THE NEWBORN SESSION EXPERIENCE: WHERE STYLE MEETS STORY

A customized newborn baby session is a luxurious and stress-free experience designed for the baby to be as comfortable as possible. It begins with professional hair and makeup, (if you choose to) to help you feel pampered and radiant. Making you feel so confident and beautiful just days after giving birth. You’ll then choose from our curated client closet, featuring a variety of flattering gowns and fabrics, if you choose to. Together, we’ll create the session you have been envisioning since you felt those little kicks.

4. THE BABY REVEAL EXPERIENCE

Your newborn journey deserves to be celebrated—and the image reveal is where the magic truly happens. During your reveal appointment, you’ll see your photographs for the very first time. It’s an emotional and unforgettable moment as you choose only the images you absolutely love.

Once your selections are made, each image is given a final, polished edit. Digital galleries are delivered within two weeks, while custom prints and heirloom albums may take up to three weeks to arrive. Every detail is thoughtfully handled to ensure your memories are beautifully preserve

PRICING

To book your maternity session a $250 creative and signed booking form is required. The creative fee covers my time and talent as the photographer, as well as full use of the studio, props, and wardrobe. Prints and products are purchased separately. Hair and makeup is additional.

Once your proofing gallery is ready, you will choose your favorite images and select which products or digitals work best in your home.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should i book my session?

The best time to book your newborn photos with our Columbus Ohio newborn portrait studio, to ensure availability, is between when you are still pregnant around 30 weeks in term. I only book so many newborn a month, our studio is typically fully booked 2 months in advance.

Please reach out for last-minute inquiries, as we do occasionally have last-minute availability.

When will newborn photos take place?

At Whispy Shades Photography near Columbus Ohio, most newborn photos take place between 4-14 days old, but you should book before baby is due to ensure a slot on the calendar.

Please reach out for last-minute openings, as we can usually accommodate them.

Do we have to bring anything to our photo shoot?

The only items you need to bring to your newborn photoshoot with Whispy Shades Photography are you of course, baby, milk, and a pacifier if you use one. If you do want to include a heirloom item, please let me know when booking, so I can customize your session to include such items.

We keep a fully stocked studio with diapers and wipes. We have dresses you are welcome to and I also supply all the wraps for baby and props- we have it all.

All photos shown on our website are items from the client closet.

Can I include my family or partner in my newborn photo shoot?

Yes, you can include your immediate family for no additional cost when you choose a full session. We include 2-3 different looks with your partner or family.
